The four main streets are, as is traditional in such cases,
named after the four points of the compass, with North Street and the
pedestrianised West Street accommodating most of the town’s shopping, and
the Meridian Shopping Centre nestled between.
East Street has specialist shops, the Arts Centre and Museum, whilst South
Street has a few shops and one of the oldest pubs in the south. There are
also a number of small shops hiding away in the various side streets, even
small art galleries where you can buy works of art, which can prove a
delight for the shopper who enjoys rooting out a bargain.
Market Parade, linking the Railway Station to West Street, via the
Meridian Centre is a shopping parade with a wide range of shops.
Havant Town Centre has a varied selection of most types of smaller shops,
offering the customer a more specialist choice and a more personal
service. However, it also has high street names and it’s own shopping
mall, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and pubs all within easy walking
distance.
The Town Centre has ease of access and easy, inexpensive parking, makes
shopping in the town an enjoyable experience. Two new retail parks,
South and Central, have expanded the town centre for both residents and
visitors.
Perfect for relaxed shopping,' the town centre has an
interesting blend of specialist retailers and major high street names.
A modern indoor shopping mall, the Meridian Centre, fronts onto an
attractive pedestrian precinct in part of West Street. Close by is Havant
Park, over a 100 years old with some magnificent trees, which provides
excellent facilities for all ages, plus the town’s cricket clubs.
